It is so far, AP V6 is ready for testing

I am looking for people interested to help beta testing the new version.

Because it is not a finished product yet, I am looking for people with following attitude and skills
- You like to be part of the development of a new AP version
- You accept that you can do suggestions but understand not everything can be implemented
- You have a reasonable understanding of computers, know how to move/copy files etc. Know about file, directories/folders.
- You know how to backup/restore your albumplayer database
- You can (and want) properly describe a problem. "It doesn't work" is not very helpful

If you want to do testing please drop a mail at support@albumplayer.com (don't send private message)

To know more about status and new features of AP , please visit:

Will the V6 version make a mess of my already installed V5 version, and will I still be able to use the V5 version normally?
I would like to test the V6 version, but still be able to use the V5 version, that's why.

Ignore my request for testing, please. I guess my collection is too large (10.000 albums) to do a test.

The V6 beta doesn't make a "mess" in first place :) and you can also go back to the old version you just backup c:\albumplayerdata first, then later put it back after reinstalling v5.3 .

But still you need to be sure if you like to invest that amount of work to join the testing.

I am running 5.3 and beta on same PC, seems Ok am able to use either (not at the same time obviously) without reinstalling although I doubt peter recommends this as it may cause problems at some point.

In fact there are only a few things that might interfere.

- Playlists are moved from a directory to the database, so you probably don't see your playlists anymore in 5.3
- Inifile settings might be different
- I was afraid there would be a mix-up in dll's but if it works fine for you then this is probably not a problem (if dll's would mix-up you even would not be able to start 5.3 anymore)

So you can always give it a try if it works for you as long as you backup c:\albumplayerdata (The AP database)

You mean as overlay over the video? Currently there is not, it is possible to define all kind of layouts (already now) also with permanent song info etc, but at this moment I only have the included example for you. If I finish the functionality I can work on skins and layouts.

I think we have some misunderstanding of each other. Just to get things clear, a small explanation first.

The AP V6 have 4 display windows which all can have its own monitor or place.
- Main Display, just the AP supposed to run on your main screen, but can also run on other (remember position on saving), can run a slide show (for instance when AP is idle)
- Side Display 1, can show slide shows, video and all kind of overlay info screens (now playing, next to play), you can define the monitor to run on.
- Side Display 2, all the same as Side Display 1 but can not show video.
- Mini display, intended to have a small control panel to control AP.

All 4 displays have its own layout definition file.

So now my question, on which of these displays you expect to have track info and is not there.
