I just looked up Retune..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tune&hl=en

"Computer running iTunes v10.0 on the same network as your Android device. Retune has not been tested with any other DACP server."

So it appears he is not following the spec exactly because our DACP library has been tested against 6 different DACP clients including Apple's own Remote and everything works. So it might be worth contacting the ReTune developer and ask him to debug.

Also have you tried Hyperfine Remote for iTunes??? I think theirs is possibly the best DACP Remote for Android and the most stable.

Great news. I am working with the ReTune developer to ensure compatibility with AlbumPlayer!

He is going to send me a list of changes of how our calls are slightly different than iTunes so we can get it working with AlbumPlayer.

Just thought I would keep you guys in the loop...

OK I worked with the ReTune developer to debug all of his issues. He has released ReTune 2.0.3 on the Android Market which now supports AlbumPlayer.

One word of warning for Peter: "When asking for album covers from ReTune it asks for group-type=artist sometimes to get basically any random cover from that artist, that was the only thing I was missing in my test app for him so I am not sure if AlbumPlayer supports that."

I am getting crash errors if I try to amend the track list order on my iPad etc.

Looking early in the thread, someone else noticed this too.

Is this still an issue being looked at?

What kind of crash? The ipad or the AP? What does it tell?

Hi.

If I rearrange the track list, it doesn't rearrange, tracks vanish, the track numbers become inconsistent.

If the album player then skips forward to the next track, and its missing in the list, album player crashes, with an access violation error.

Difficult to explain, but happens consistently. Could video it I guess!

No you don't have to video. In c:\albumplayerdata\logging\tunesremote you find logfiles. Please just try to create this problem again, then send me the latest logfile. Note that I probably can't fix the behavior with order of the list. Note that this remote control is not designed for AP in first place. But at least I can try to fix the crash.

I get "Invalid Pointer Position", followed by an "Access Violation"

The log is tricky to attach! It wont accept .txt or .log. I have uploaded it for download here: http://www.filedropper.com/tunesremote

Is getting playlist editing a little beyond the capabilities at the moment?

Thanks.

You should be able to add/delete tracks to/from the playlist, so playlist editing is possible. But rearrange the playlist I can imagine it leads to a problem. I checked the logfile but it has no errors inside which means it goes wrong in AP itself not in the interface. I also don't have an iPad (only iPod) so I can't reproduce. The only way to get a bit further is when you would be able to use the AP V6 beta, it has much more logging. But that is up to you.

Is the beta available?

I have an iPhone, which is essentially an iPod, and it was doing the same with that too.

Is it possible to run the beta alongside the current?

You can send an email to support@albumplayer.com to request to participate in the beta for V6. On my XP system, I have it coexisting with 5.3 but Peter advises that they probably will not coexist.
