If I were to just plug in a Logitech Precision Gamepad, would one of the buttons increment the coin count?

I'm not likely to add a coin device, but I could see myself using credits with a piggy bank next to the computer....

any further update on the coin operation, i have previously installed net 2 and visual studio express, connected up the logitech gamepad and coin mech, but no luck with it, still coming up with errors and the pc is fine, even after all of the software i have downloaded, there has to be an easier way of doing this
thanks
sean

The logitech gamepad is a game console. Can you check in the control panel of windows if you can find the gamepad there. If so, open the properties screen then you see all buttons displayed. Without any AP program running you should see one of the buttons blink when inserting a coin.

Hello Peter.

I am very new to AP, and am fascinated by it. I have a coin acceptor which works on the Serial (R-232) port of a computer, and luckily my pc still supports the serial port (old pc, eh ?).

So i thought of writing a VB aplication that would read the data from the Coin Acceptor (via Serial port), and send to AP.

After going through your forum, i could only fid exmples in VStudio .NET, while i have knowledge of making programs in VB6. :(

I there any way my VB6 app could talk with your AP ? Appreciate all the help.

Thanks.

Regards...
Zeeshan

Hii. I have AP V5.1, and i can ssuccesfully end simple mesages to it, like Volume control and Mute, etc. Now i want to esnd Credits Add message and here is the code i am using, but it returns TRUE (1) after SendMessage API, but i cant see the credit being updated in AP. Can any one tell me whats wrong ?

Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim creditStr As String

creditStr = "<AlbumPlayerCommand id=""SetCredits"">" & vbCrLf
creditStr = creditStr & "<Credits function=""Set"">5</Credits>" & vbCrLf
creditStr = creditStr & "</AlbumPlayerCommand>" & vbCrLf

SendToApplication creditStr
End Sub

Public Sub SendToApplication(strMessage As String)
Dim DataStruct As COPYDATASTRUCT
Dim strInternal As String
Dim ABHwnd As Long

ABHwnd = FindAlbumPlayerWindow

If ABHwnd > 0 Then
strInternal = strMessage & vbCr
DataStruct.dwData = 1
DataStruct.lpData = StrPtr(strInternal)
DataStruct.cbData = (LenB(strInternal) + 2)

result = SendMessage(ABHwnd, WM_COPYDATA, Form1.hwnd, DataStruct)

MsgBox "Message Sent !" & vbCrLf & result
Else
MsgBox "ERROR !"
End If
End Sub

Public Function FindAlbumPlayerWindow() As Long
Dim ABWinHwnd As Long

ABWinHwnd = FindWindow("TfrmPlayer", "AlbumPlayer")
FindAlbumPlayerWindow = ABWinHwnd
End Function

I am not really familiar with VB6, but the XML command you are using sets the credits to 5 ("Set" function). So if already 5, then you see no change. Better use the "Add" function to increase it with 1 each time (for example). In the code itself I see no problem, but I think it would be good to find somebody that wrote interface with VB6 already.

Hellp Peter,

Thank for your reply. Yes i understand that i am usinng the SET credits command, and i also tried the Add command, but nothing seeems to work. There are no errors, no problems whatsoever form VB or from AP or from Windows. The message is sent properly, it returns 1 (sometimes 0). But no matter what it returnss.. it does not update the credits.

I believe the XML thing is doing problem. I even made a new program with XLDocumetn object imported i nsystem, but still no success. The i tried on VB2005 Express edition and AP, both running on Vista Home edition - i developed a VB2005 progrm by looking at your Coin ZIP file program which is doen in C... it also sends message, but cannot update credit.

I am using the free 30 day version of AP as of now, to evaluate it. Does this version support these XML commads for credit update ?

The demo should work, it should not make a difference. Did you try other XML commands, do they work?

Don't know if I get the time, but if possible I create a small console app that can send credits to AP. You might use that, or use it as a base. I go out of the country for several weeks at sunday, should try to do it before then. No promise.

Thanks a million AP !

If you could develop a small console app that could take a command linen parameter as to the Number of credits to add, then it would be great. :)

But i would rather be intersted in teh code, as i am trying to do everythign right, and still its not letting me do it. Thre seem to be no problem with the code - just some logical problem i guess. :(

Anyway.. thanks a lot.
If you like, i can send you my VB6 and VB2005 code, perhaps you could check at your end and make any correction to it rather than writing a code from scratch.
