You can post your wishes and ideas on this forum. In the past I tried to give a reply on every idea, but since the forum starts to get crowded, it consumes to much time and development time gets limited. Therefore from now I will not reply on everything anymore. But that doesn't mean I don't read it. Tips ideas etc. are very welcome, especially when more users requests the same thing it give the idea more importance (which doesn't mean I will immediatly start working on it). But also an idea with 0 replies can be a good idea. Regarding bigger issues and general plans please also read the roadmap. http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=403

Thank you for your understanding.

Some ideas for the new Albumplayer (5):

- The opportunity of deleting albums completely (the album is deleted from hard drive, the album cover is deleted from the userdata/covers dir. The item is deleted from the database.)
- The opportunity of checking the covers directory for unused covers, and the ability to delete them.
- A creation of a one-button backup facility that includes settings, database-backup, skins, etc. So in case of a computercrash you can easily restore your Albumplayer to be like it was before in one go.
- The ability to backup settings and database for other people to use. If I backup the userdata folder it now contains registration of my account, so if other people buy the program they can't use my settings and database.

Jan, I think you wrote 4 ideas not 5 :)

- The delete option might be an idea, but the AP only holds the links to the files. If the files are deleted the folder and other items remain. Now what might be a possibility is to ask the user if the folder that contains the files should be deleted when the folder is not empty.

- In V5, when choosing the option to compress the database, all unused covers are deleted from the covers folder.

- In V5, there is a one button backup facility to backup to user specified location. It backups the database and settings.. The backup also uses a reminder system to ask the user to make a backup on frequent intervals. Skins are not part of a backup, they are very complicated in V5 and there is no possibilty anumore to adjust skins from inside the AP by the user.

- In V4.9g, settings are already contained in the database directory (this is changed in V4.8). So when making a backup of the database directory settings are restored too. Also since 4.8, registration is not read anymore from AlbumPlayer.ini in database directory but from different location. But I realise that the key still remains in the file (unused) when older version was installed ever , so I will create something that it will be removed from AlbumPlayer.ini at startup of AP in V5.

Hi,

I have one idea to add: I have a lot of albums which do not have a cover. often they are live/bootleg, wrongly tagged (i.e cd2 at the end) or just too unknown. The google picture function is perfect for this , but for my 2000 albums it is too tedious and too laborious.
therefore i wondered if i was possible to add 'look for google pic and use the first hit' to the 'find album info' function. so instead of roaming amazon it searches google. i have noticed that the first hit is almost always the right one. if not, of course, one might change it manually.

very looking forward to V5! it's a fantastic program this albumplayer

I would really like Albumplayer to support VST plugins.
I know there is a Winamp to VST plugins wrapper but it's not very stable on my system. It crashes Albumplayer after a while.

Sooooo..... VST support please :-)

And better yet, asio support allso when using VST plugins.

Hope you can support VST Plugin and make it possible to use of the very good Digital Room and Loudspeaker Correction below.

This will make AlbumPlayer a great product

I had a few specific things that I had mentioned previously in the forum. I'll try to collect them here as I think of them.

One is my #3 item here (and a few later comments):
http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=403&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=skip&start=148

This is the fix for misparsing tracks that have a '.' in the filename when Scan for new tracks using Directory and File names. "Hello Mz. Hyde" comes up as "Hello Mz" in the current implementation.

Another is to make it easier to "replace" an MP3 version of an album with a FLAC or WAV as I discussed here:
http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=3223&highlight=
and
http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=3133&highlight=
and
http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=2315&highlight=

I'd like to see improved options for the AP volume control, so in asio mode, it might control my master volume on my system (as it currently does nothing) as I have discussed here:
http://forum.albumon.com/viewtopic.php?t=2624&highlight=

A feature that I would like to see is to be able to set a list of folder paths, and have album player automatically monitor and add the music stored in those paths and sub folders. Several player and other software already do this, most versions of dc++ are open source so you should be able to get the code from that, should be fairly easy to do.

I'd like to make a new feature suggestion that will improve the "Recently Added" albums display.

Currently, you can define in the Prefs the amount of time that an album will remain in the Recently Added collection. I would like to also see an option to display the last [number] albums added. So, the user would either enter a number of days or a number of albums to determine what shows in Recently Added.

This would be an improvement because it could avoid having an empty or nearly empty Recently Added collection. I often use the Recently Added collection to find something to play, and I tend to play my more recent acquisitions frequently. It would be nice to able to keep maybe my most recent 100 albums in there. For me that would be more relevant than a date-based display.

I would love to see an option to add or link aliases to my "Artist Database".
Clicking on an artist and seeing all the music they've made under different aliases on one page would be fantastic.

Can you explain this a bit more, at least I know what you mean then so I consider things in future.
