Bad news for the artist image lookup. Without any note (at least I can't find it) last.fm just discontinued artist image lookup. It is also not visible in the documentation anymore

This is the message returned after artist lookup is performed

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
-<lfm status="failed"><error code="27"> The artist.getImages method has been deprecated. </error></lfm>

The quality of images at last.fm is good and there are many images. It will be not easy to find any comparable source.

It of course has my attention and I will look for a new source but if found it will only be available in 6.0 version of AP.

That is a shame, that was a great feature, for both album player and last FM

I think it working now. I was able to successfully look up the album covers for two albums in my collection that didn't have a cover from any other source including amazon.
In the last.fm forums, I saw that the "artist.getimages" documentation was missing (see http://www.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Web+Se ... 4/_/626352) but nothing about the call being removed. There were several discussions from people asking if it was deprecated, but no confirmation that it was.

It's not looking up the tracks correctly (wrong order coming back... not sure why) but the cover lookup seems to be working for me. I did it in the Album Editor, changed the lookup to use last.fm and then pressed the Auto Lookup button.
Is that the correct way of testing this feature? I didn't see any other place that was specifically for "artist image lookup". Is that different?

Edit Artist -> manage artist images -> lastFM lookup

I never tried lastFM for album covers, always used the google images, what was great about the lastFM lookup was that you could import 50 at a time and it would filter out the ones you already had.

Oh I see, that is different. I tried it on a few artists and groups as you suggested and got an unhandled exception dialog:

Image Selection
Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue,
the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.
Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.

at the bottom it says "Loading image 1 of 0..."

In Details it said:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Yes that is it just the one function "artist.getimages" is deprecated. It is only possible to just read one image using "artist.getinfo". But currently I don't use the image that comes with "artist.getinfo". Album cover lookup still works also the rest of last.fm functionality.
